Hospitality and Community Service programs recap July/August
Community Services Work Placements
Students are currently undertaking their 4 weeks of work placement practical. The feedback from both employers and students during weekly site visits has been so positive and having workplace exposure has inspired students to apply for word-of-mouth opportunities in their areas of interest.
The support we receive from the following organisations has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Krishia Place (3rd from left) is completing her work placement with Centacare FNQ. Krishia draws on the understanding and compassion she developed from personal experience as her parents migrated to Australia from the Philippines.
Centacare Multicultural Services (CMS) provides free support for eligible individuals, families and migrant communities in Cairns and the surrounding regions.
Nicole Thill at Ruth’s Women’s Shelter – Nicole found her own placement as a Crisis Support Worker as she is interested in pursuing a career in Domestic and Family Violence services..
Ruby Billy chose to complete her Work Placement with Endeavour Foundation and is enjoying the role of Disability Support Worker. There are x3 Customers residing in the supported-living facility and they are often out and about in the community. Activities have included attending appointments, shopping, going to the Cairns Show and even the Mareeba Rodeo. Yeehaw!
From the Hospitaltiy program..
While some students are still finishing up their workplace experience, others have completed. All students have gained lots of valuable skills during their work experience. They are all very keen to find a job and and be part of the workforce.
enVizion are planning a graduation ceremony to celebrate their dedication and hard work of the Certificate III in Community Services and the Certificate II in Hospitality teams. With an end there is always a new beginning - we wish all of these students the very best and look forward to hearing about the new adventures they undertake.
